Antwerp builds bridges to the rhythm of orchestral timpani
[BELGIUM - Antwerp/October 2014]
To commemorate the First World War, the Dutch Army and Belgian armies re-enacted the crossing of 40,000 people from one side of the Escaut River to the other. An armada of 17 ships, chaperoned by a spectacular canal barge, created a 450-meter bridge in 30 minutes. An encounter with Laurence Mesterlin on timpani, Jean Louis le Valégant on traditional bombard and the foghorn of the ocean liner “Le France”.
